Flashlight 3D's internship program gives students and career-transitioning professionals experience developing digital-health prototypes in an early-stage company environment.
Apply nowPart-Time, 24–30 hours a week, in person in downtown San Diego. You'll build digital health tool prototypes alongside the founder, ship a real product, and get hands-on experience with how a technology company gets off the ground.

You'll work with LLMs, agentic systems, and real health data to design and ship digital health tools on a real timeline, for a real startup. You'll leave with portfolio-ready work, connections in health tech and AI, and applied experience that complements your academic training.
Where you can contribute
Four functional groups make up the team. Most interns contribute across more than one. This is a startup, not a specialized job.
Health Data Engineering
Medical-record ingestion, data normalization, wearable integrations, and health-data infrastructure.
AI, Genomics & Evaluation
Model workflows, genomic annotation, system evaluation, safety, and documentation.
Product & Design
Application development, user experience, accessible report design, and visual communication.
Company Operations
Project management, partnerships, communications, governance, and financial planning.
What you'll do
- Build multiple digital health tool prototypes
- Design and launch a website to share them
- Apply for funding to build at least one prototype further
- Get hands-on experience in every part of starting a technology company: legal and governance, project management, product development, HR, outreach and partnerships, fundraising
